About Dakshinkhan
Dakshinkhan is a neighbourhood located in Dhaka, Bangladesh, bounded on the north by Gazipur Sadar Upazila, on the south by Khilkhet, on the east by Uttarkhan, and on the west by Shahjalal International Airport and Uttara. It is now part of the Dhaka North City Corporation.
The area was originally a union parishad of Dhaka District. Dakshinkhan Thana was formed in 2006, named after Dakshinkhan Adarsha Union Parishad. A decision was made in 2015 to merge it with the Dhaka North City Corporation, and the integration occurred in 2016.
According to the 2022 census, Dakkhinkhan Thana has 108,255 households and a population of 396,942. The literacy rate for those aged seven and over is 87.19%, with 88.78% for males and 85.35% for females.
