Overview

Dhaka Division, established in 1829, is the heart of Bangladesh. It includes the capital city of Dhaka and covers 17 districts, including major industrial hubs like Narayanganj and Gazipur. It is bounded by Mymensingh to the north, Barisal to the south, Chattogram and Sylhet to the east, and Rajshahi/Khulna to the west. The region is the most populous division in the country and one of the most densely populated in the world. Dhaka is a major center for international business, garments, and politics. It serves as the primary gateway to Bangladesh, with significant historical sites such as Lalbagh Fort and Ahsan Manzil showcasing its Mughal and colonial past.
