Lalbagh Fort is one of the most iconic historical landmarks in Dhaka, dating back to the Mughal era. Construction began in 1678 under Prince Muhammad Azam, the son of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. However, the fort remained incomplete after the death of Pari Bibi, the daughter of Shaista Khan, which added a mysterious and emotional story to its history. The fort complex includes several important structures such as the tomb of Pari Bibi, the Lalbagh Mosque, and the Diwan-i-Aam (audience hall). Surrounded by high walls and lush gardens, the site offers a peaceful escape from the busy streets of Old Dhaka. Visitors can explore the Mughal architecture, learn about historical events, and enjoy a scenic environment. Lalbagh Fort is not only a tourist attraction but also a symbol of Bangladesh’s rich cultural heritage.
