Overview
Barisal division was formed on 1 January 1993. It consists of 6 districts (Barisal, Bhola, Patuakhali, Barguna, Jhalakathi, Pirojpur). Agriculture and fishing are the main economies of the region. Geographically, it is a deltaic region and is prone to cyclones due to its location near the Bay of Bengal, but is very fertile for agriculture and fishing.
